My dream took me to an island faraway

Where the waters ran still and calm

Soothed by the sound of the whispering palms

The ocean was bright, glistening like gold

Waves concealing the secrets they hold

With starlight dancing in my eyes

I watched the morning sun rise

Wine glass in the palm of my hand

Thoughts more numerous than grains of sand

Wish I could stay here in this paradise forever

Wish I don't have to go back ever

Alas happiness will leave but sadness never ceases

And my dream soon breaks into a million pieces

A sharp sound shatters the peace and calm

As my ears hear the ventilator alarm

The patient who I saved from certain death

Is once again struggling to take a breath

My running footsteps echo off the hospital walls

My exotic dream may just beckon but my duty calls…
